Audrey Kawire Wabwire
Audrey Kawire Wabwire manages media relations and communications strategy in the Horn and eastern Africa. She presents and co-produces the HRW podcast Power of the Streets and oversees the Nairobi Human Rights Watch Film Festival. Audrey writes commentary about teen pregnancy, the women’s rights movement in Africa and other human rights stories in the region.
Prior to joining Human Rights Watch, she oversaw communications and digital advocacy as communications manager at the Kenya Human Rights Commission. She worked with BBC Media Action out of the Nairobi bureau producing digital content for local governance TV and radio shows. She also conducted trainings for journalists in Kenya. Audrey is a radio journalist and has reported on climate change Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana and South Africa. She is based in Nairobi.
