Lishan Aklog

Dr. Lishan Aklog is a heart surgeon and medical device entrepreneur who fled political violence in Ethiopia as a young teenager and currently resides in New York. Dr. Aklog serves as Chairman and CEO of PAVmed Inc (NASDAQ: PAVM), a multi-product medical technology company, the Board of Directors of AdvaMed, the leading U.S. medical technology trade association, and several corporate boards. Prior to transitioning to a career in the life sciences industry, he had a distinguished academic and clinical career as a technological innovator in cardiac surgery serving on the faculty of leading institutions including Harvard Medical School and Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Aklog received his BA from Harvard College, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude in Physics and his MD, cum laude, from Harvard Medical School. He completed his surgical training at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital, Harefield Hospital, London and L’Hôpital Broussais, Paris. Dr. Aklog has been active in philanthropic activities as well as national and political fundraising, including serving on Barack Obama’s National Finance Committee in 2008. He has been an active member of Human Rights Watch’s New York Committee since 2013 and currently serves on its Board of Directors, the NY Executive Committee and the Africa Advisory Committee.
