Allison Deger

Allison Deger is the Senior Communications Manager at Human Rights Watch. She manages HRW’s global press desk and the HRW Press team operating across several countries. She is also a media liaison for the Environmental and Human Rights Division and leads the organization’s climate media strategy.  

Prior to joining HRW, Allison was a journalist with a decade of experience reporting and editing from New York City and the Middle East. She started her career at the Nation magazine and has fact-checked several books and white papers on politics, history, and the fashion industry. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies with a minor in Middle East Studies from the University of California, Berkeley and has a certificate from the THREAD program in narrative journalism at Yale University.

She is based in Washington DC.
