George Wilkes

George R. Wilkes was hired by Human Rights Watch as a consultant in March 2023, charged with helping the Europe and Central Asia Division develop work on antisemitism in France, Germany and the United Kingdom. He is an academic who has lectured at the universities of Birmingham, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Leuven, with specialist interests in religion, conflict, and human rights. He has worked with human rights, humanitarian and peacebuilding initiatives across the Balkans and the Middle East. He was a co-founder of the Jewish human rights organisation René Cassin.
