Corrections to our publications

Human Rights Watch strives to maintain the highest level of accuracy in our reporting. This includes a commitment to correcting errors or clarifying facts that appear in our publications in a timely fashion. Corrections appear both on this dedicated webpage and at the bottom of the publication that contained the error.

We cannot reply individually to all corrections requests, but all such requests that specify the exact nature of the alleged inaccuracy and the publication (title, page number / web address and date) in which it appeared will be reviewed. If you believe you have found an inaccuracy in our materials, please contact us.

Errors contained in social media posts under Human Rights Watch and staff accounts will also be corrected in a prompt and transparent manner.

Recent Corrections

  • The recommendations to this report were edited on May 10, 2018 to correct the name of a Jordanian government agency.

  • 8/30/21: Updates were made to the Background section of this report and to the Annex to reflect amendments to Articles 356 and 358 of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) penal code. 

  • Medan, Indonesia's third largest city, is located in North Sumatra. An earlier version of this article misstated its location. 

  • This news release has been update to correct the date authorities arrested Azam Jangravi.

  • The satellite imagery demonstrating ongoing digging activity at the Bardiya mass grave site has been updated to reflect the correct dates of September 3 and 29. 

  • Three child offenders were executed in Iran in January 2018. An earlier version of the headline was unclear about the age of the individuals when they were executed. 

  • An earlier version of this piece only named Pidgeon Pagonis as the leader of a protest in frohnt of the Ann  & Robert H Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. An updated version adds Lynell Stephani Long and Sean Saifa Wall to the list of protest organizers.

  • March 5, 2018: An earlier version of this dispatch listed an "elimination of 'retroactive laws'" as one demand expressed during a planned demonstration on January 27, 2018. This has been corrected to "elimination of laws". 

  • An earlier version of this dispatch stated that the Polish president has not yet signed the new law.  In fact, he signed the law on January 29, 2017. The dispatch has been updated to reflect this.

  • Correction: An earlier version of this news release incorrectly stated that Qatar had unblocked local access to the Doha News website based on screenshots showing that the site was accessible. However, Doha News has confirmed that the site remains blocked. The new release has been updated to reflect this.
